Websites
Word Association has been producing websites for nearly 10 years. Since we produced our first site for a major university hospital, when the technology was still in its infancy, so much has changed and so have we. In those days we used software packages such as Dreamweaver and FrontPage to produce static html sites like our own site.
As the technology has grown we also develop database driven sites using Active Server Pages (ASP) running from either a mySQL or MS-SQL database system. This has the advantage of giving the client the ability to edit the content displayed on the site and the datastore is available to the site’s search engine.
Whatever the technology though, it’s our view that websites are marketing not IT projects and that good content and strong design are as important here as in any other communication. We provide a full service which includes:
- initial discussions to agree objectives, enabling us to draw up a site plan and specification
- developing a design for the site which is eye-catching but practical
writing web friendly copy
- using photos, images and creating special effects such as animation
testing and then, of course, publishing the site

- optimise the site for search engines
- advertise the site in other media
- maintain and develop the site to keep it fresh and up to date
- make sure the site is accessible to all
- create intranets and extranets
