Welcome to the sixth issue of The Word, which brings you the latest news from Word Association |
RAPID RESPONSE FOR POLICE Police federations from Durham down to Hertfordshire enjoyed a rapid response from Word Association when their conference newsletters and reports were turned around in a week. PR Director, Julie Horwood, has been attending the Police Federation Conference for the past five years to produce a newsletter for Leicestershire Police Federation. At Word Association we know how to market ourselves – as well as our clients – and when we created a promotional postcard offering our services to the other 43 Police Federations in England and Wales, seven immediately asked us to work with them. In addition to producing a 24 page newsletter for Leicestershire Police Federation which was delivered 10 days after the end of conference, we also created a four page newsletter for Cleveland Police Federation. After the conference finished on the Friday, they saw their first proof on the Tuesday! Plus, we provided copy by the Tuesday for six other Federations including Durham, Cumbria, Bedfordshire and Lincolnshire, who ran it on their intranet. “ I must state I am impressed by the quality of the newsletter which is excellent,” wrote Brian Docherty, JBB Secretary of Cleveland Police Federation. FOOD FOR THOUGHT With one in 10 people suffering from food poisoning every year, Word Association has been working with Nuneaton and Bedworth’s food hygiene specialists to promote a new website offering an absolute feast of information on food safety and healthy eating. The site at www.nbbcfood.info has been pioneered by the Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s environmental health services food safety team and needed a high profile launch to encourage owners of food businesses, schools, colleges and food professionals, to really get their teeth into it. The Word Association team used the start of National Food Safety Week on 13th June to organise a launch at the Civic Hall in Bedworth, which saw around 60 representatives of food businesses attending. Jenny Morris, national food policy officer at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and Nigel Binns from Rentokil both gave presentations. Affable site mascot, Spud, was also created and is already out and about in the Borough, handing out information on barbecue safety. ‘SpudZone’ is set to hit the website in September, offering a good food hygiene interactive games area for children.
