AWARD WINNING SERVICE

Thanks to a wide range of help and support from Word Association, local companies and organisations have been in the running for some high profile awards recently.

When Hinckley based specialist printer, Checkprint, was named as an ‘enterprise champion’ by winning a Queen’s Award in April, we enabled them to really make the most of this ultimate business accolade. Our innovative media relations campaign made people far and wide aware of the company’s success.

James Butcher Housing Association in Theale near Reading is currently waiting to hear if they’ve made the shortlist for the iNbiz awards. Having interviewed the two tenants being put forward for the Good Neighbour and Leadership categories, we drafted the award application outlining what they’ve each achieved for their neighbourhood.

Plus, various organisations including Jephson Housing Association Group in Leamington Spa have successfully gained the Chartermark Award with our support. We helped co-ordinate a steering group to focus on different areas of the business and advised staff on how to gather and present information for the award application.

MAKING LIGHT WORK OF IT

News that Iraqi engineers were being trained by a UK company to rebuild their country’s electricity network was quick to spread when the Word Association team got on the case.

Having identified the key messages which Empower Training Services wanted to promote, our media relations team used their strong media contacts to place the story with journalists throughout Empower’s home county of Nottinghamshire, as well as with national trade publications.

Coverage appeared in IEE Review Careers, PEI Online, This is Nottingham and Extra Newsletter, explaining how the Iraqi engineers were being flown to the UK to take part in two courses on electricity run by Empower.

Plus, an eye-catching spread in the Nottingham Evening Post resulted in free editorial for Empower which would have cost nearly £3,000 for the equivalent advertising space.

NEWS IN BRIEF

  • SPEAKING YOUR LANGUAGE
At Word Association we certainly speak your language. We can translate literature into any language quickly and accurately. For example, Moseley & District Housing Association’s Audit Commission survey highlighted the need to be more inclusive and so we stepped in and have been translating a variety of publications into community languages including Benagli and Urdu ever since. We also offer a range of other services to support inclusion including producing material in Braille and large print or on audio cassette.
