Welcome to the sixth issue of The Word, which brings you the latest news from Word Association

CALENDAR GIRLS ARE A HIT

Word Association’s innovative media relations service for Independent Paper has proved to be a real talking point in the industry.

The paper merchant abandoned the usual customer calendar idea at the start of the year and gave printers the opportunity to print their own calendars using photographs commissioned by Independent Paper instead.

Over a six week period, Independent emailed customers photos of professional actresses in calendar format, using the overall theme of Independent Thinking. Although the company made suggestions as to which type of paper to use, it left the actual printing of the calendar to printers themselves.

Using our contacts within the media, we were able to secure high profile coverage for this creative campaign which gave Independent Paper a real boost to start the year off.

TEAM STRENGTHENED

Word Association has strengthened its team further with a new appointment and two promotions.

Jason Penn has joined as Creative Director, bringing more than 15 years’ design experience in corporate literature, advertising, packaging, corporate identity and point of sale material. Jason’s appointment means we’re now able to offer an even broader creative design service to clients and several have already seen how he develops creative ideas which achieve results.

Following her promotion to PR Executive, Amy Liddington has been busy helping to plan and run innovative media relations campaigns for clients, as well as organising conferences and events. Amy keeps in regular contact with journalists to secure maximum coverage for clients.

Melanie Moore has been promoted to Central Services Director to ensure the smooth running of the company. By effectively managing all administration, personnel and financial issues, Melanie enables other members of the team to concentrate on providing the best possible service to clients.

NEWS IN BRIEF

  • BUILDING LASTING RELATIONSHIPS
Continuously providing a first class service so that we develop a long-lasting relationship with clients is key to our success at Word Association. For the past decade, we’ve been producing CHiP News for Croudace, a Surrey-based house-builder which specialises in projects for housing associations.

The past two years have seen us delivering the colourful newsletter in time for the Chartered Institute of Housing Regional Conference in Brighton, which gives Croudace an excellent opportunity to raise their profile in the social housing sector. We chose an eye-catching photograph featuring Kirstie Allsopp from Channel 4’s “Location, Location” programme for the front page this year and, as a result, more than 1,300 copies flew off the Croudace stand.

  • SPEAKING YOUR LANGUAGE
At Word Association we certainly speak your language. We can translate literature into any language quickly and accurately. When Moseley & District Housing Association’s Audit Commission survey highlighted the need to be more inclusive, we stepped in and have been translating a variety of publications into community languages including Benagli and Urdu ever since. We also offer a range of other services to support inclusion including producing material in Braille and large print or on audio cassette.
