Project: Sales literature

Background: Wickmans are one of Coventry's best-known engineering firms.  Founded in 1926, the company has installed more than 15,000 machine tools all over the world.

Objective: Wickmans commissioned Word Association to produce a brochure which would help launch their new 6-26 machine at the Simodec international exhibition.

Description: The job involved taking a detailed technical brief from the client and interpreting the information to write copy for a brochure which was readable and contained the right level of detail.

Our role: As well as writing the copy, we commissioned photography for the brochure and developed a powerful design which helped to highlight the machine's key selling points.  Finally, we arranged for the text to be translated so that a French version of the publication could be produced for Wickman's overseas clientele.

The challenge: We had to complete the job to a very tight deadline, working with a new client and a product with which we were not familiar.  The end product was a brochure which reflected the client's own reputation for professionalism and quality, helping them to secure new business.
