Word Association – where communication changes lives
Client: WALSGRAVE HOSPITALS NHS TRUST
Project: Trust website
Background: The Trust includes the two Coventry hospitals Walsgrave and Coventry & Warwickshire as well as the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby.
Objective: Walsgrave recognised the need to make information about the Trust available in an easily accessible, patient-friendly form. There was also a requirement to integrate the website with a new intranet for Trust staff.
Description: The website acts as a general introduction to the Trust, its structure and organisation. It also provides practical advice for patients and visitors, including tables of waiting times for consultant appointments and location maps. Other features include recent news from the Trust, information about the proposals for a new Coventry hospital, key contracts and links to other NHS websites such as NHS Direct.
Our role: Word Association researched and wrote the text for the pages, developed the site architecture and links, scanned in graphics and produced HTML coding. We also published the site to an existing domain and arranged for it to be listed on a number of popular search engines.
The challenge: The website had to be designed to a tight technical specification and within a limited budget, following guidelines issued by the NHS. This precluded the use of complex graphics and required us to produce a design that was both simple and effective.
Feedback: Mark Thomas said: "Walsgrave were impressed that we could create a professional web design for such a diverse audience, while working within the constraints placed upon them by the NHS Executive."
