Project: Advertising

Background: The college is recognised as the area's main provider of further education, both in Hinckley and Nuneaton.

Objective: To produce advertisements for a number of courses at the college.

Description: Word Association was commissioned to design advertising for courses in beauty therapy and hotel reception skills which started in January 2001.

Our role: The company prepared a number of visuals for the client, who then selected their preferred design to go to finished artwork. As well as creating advertisements that were visually eye-catching, with strong images and a clear message, Word Association recommended the inclusion of a simple feedback device so that the college could see which publication attracted the biggest response.

The challenge: The client had wanted to increase the number of applications for these courses compared with previous years. The new advertisements have helped to attract enquiries from potential students and, thanks to the feedback codes, the college has gained a greater understanding of which areas are being reached by the campaign.
Account director Sarah Thomas said: "The adverts have worked well and as a result we have now been asked to look at a media relations project for the college."
