Focus on tenants
Client: Optima Community Association
Project: Residents’ focus group for annual report
We put tenants of the Birmingham-based Optima housing association at the heart of their annual report by helping set up and consult with a residents’ focus group about its production.
Word Association has helped a number of housing associations, including Optima, in setting up their own residents’ focus group – a group of tenants to be consulted about the production of their annual report.
We met with the Optima focus group to discuss what they felt were the most important elements to include in the report, taking into account their priorities and preferences.
We discussed content, design, lay-out and style - to make sure the finished publication would be clear, easy-to-understand and appealing to tenants.
After drafting the report, we went back to the group for their feedback before producing the finished document.
Residents have been extremely positive about being involved in the process of producing the report. Residents’ focus group member Will Hopkins said: “It is really innovative and forward-thinking for Optima to involve residents in producing their annual report.”
Georgette Wright, Communications Officer, Optima Community Association, added: "I always find that staff at Word Association are helpful, offer ideas and support, meet deadlines and produce the end result we are looking for."
