Careers

We think Word Association is a great place to work. The company is small and friendly, but also dedicated, professional and hard-working. We expect a lot from our staff and they respond by going the extra mile when it's needed to hit a tight deadline or meet an urgent client request.

In return, Word Association rewards its employees well. Everyone receives an annual bonus based on the company's profits and holiday allocations are also generous. As a family-friendly business, we also accommodate people's needs to take time off or adjust their working hours to fit in with children.

Other benefits now being developed for implementation include a stakeholder pension scheme for employees and a healthcare scheme.

Working from home
The biggest benefit of all, for many employees, is the company's policy of home-working. Word Association does not expect staff to be based at a single, central location. Instead, efficient communications systems enable people to work from their own home offices equipped with Internet-enabled PCs and dedicated telephone lines. Our infrastructure means that calls can be diverted and transferred between offices as if we had a central switchboard. We can also access information via the company intranet.

It's a way of working that staff welcome as it enables them to work productively without the distractions of a normal office environment. It also means they are spared the stress of a time-consuming daily journey to and from work. Click here to find out what's so good about home working.

Word Association has been accredited as an Investor in People.

Work-life balance
We believe that it is important for employees to have a healthy balance between their work and home priorities. We are therefore prepared to adapt conditions of employment, within the constraints of the business, to meet individual needs. This means being open to flexible working and other arrangements - not only for those who care for young children but for all employees. This is achieved by having people working from home and by offering flexible hours. We recognise the need for health and safety in the workplace, even when this is an employee’s home. This means ensuring that employees comply with appropriate health and safety legislation and reserving the right to inspect a home office in order to ensure that it is a safe place to work.
